Source Antibody: Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and
detection.
Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: The test reacted with all BaYMV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is very strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in arrange of 1.300 - >3.000 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is very high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:810 - 1:2430.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues such as barley, wheat or other host plants. Background is low on all of the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect BaYMV in infected host plants.

Name: Barley Yellow Mosaic Virus
Acronym: BaYMV
Synonyms:
Group/Genus: Bymovirus
Vector: Transmitted by a vector; a fungus; Polymyxa graminis;
Plasmodiophorales.
Transmission: Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not
transmitted by contact between plants; not transmitted by seed; not transmitted
by pollen.
Main natural host plants: Hordeum vulgare.
Virus Infection: Symptoms vary seasonally. Symptoms yellow
streaks especially on youngest leaves in winter or spring. Also brown necrotic
patches. Leaves may roll so the plants appear `spiky'. Vigour reduced.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Hordeum vulgare
- systemic leaf streaking.
Geographical distribution: Spreads in the Eastern Asian region and the Eurasian region; Belgium, China, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, and the UK.
