Chrysanthemum Stem Necrosis Virus (CSNV) - DAS ELISA Home Products Testing Services Supplies Contact Us
Catalog #: V283 ( VS16 )
Source Antibody: Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and detection.
Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: Reaction of the ELISA is strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 0.600 - 1.800 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:90 - 1:810.
Specificity: This test system has no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues tested. Background is very low on the negative control wells.

Information About the Virus
Name: Chrysanthemum Stem Necrosis Virus
Acronym: CSNV
Genus: Tospovirus
The virus: CSNV is a member of a tentative tospovirus species. Virions isometric, enveloped with 85 nm in diameter, and rounded in profile without a conspicuous capsomere arrangement.
Main host plants and Symptoms: Chrysanthemums and tomatoes are the only reported natural hosts for CSNV.Symptoms are described as mild or severe necrotic streaks on the stem, wilting of leaves and stems, and chlorotic or necrotic spots and rings on some leaves. Necrosis on peduncles and flora receptacles has been described too.
Transmission: CSNV is transmitted and spread in nature by thrips (Thysanoptera) in a persistent manner. Frankliniella occidentalis and Frankliniella schultzei are main vectors of CSNV.
Geographical Distribution: CSNV was first recognized on chrysanthemum in Brazil. Later it was found on tomato, also in Brazil. In Europe, outbreaks have occurred in the Netherlands, Slovenia and the UK.
