Dasheen Mosaic Virus (DsMV) - DAS ELISA

Catalog #:  V273

Source Antibody:
Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and detection.
Test Format:    DAS ELISA
Reactivity:  Reaction of the ELISA is moderately strong.  Optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 0.750 - 1.850 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity:  Sensitivity of the ELISA is relatively high.  The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:270 - 810.
Specificity:  This test system has no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues tested. Background is low on the negative control wells.

Information About the Virus
Name: Dasheen Mosaic Virus
Acronym:  DsMV
Synonyms:
Genus: Potyvirus
Main Diseases: Causes mosaic and/or distortion diseases of Aglaonema spp., Caladium hortulanum (caladium), Colocasia spp. (dasheen, taro), Dieffenbachia spp. (dieffenbachia, dumbcane), Xanthosoma spp. (cocoyam, elephant’s ear, tannia, yautia) and Zantedeschia spp.
Transmission: Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Myzus persicae, Aphis craccivora (Morales and Zettler, 1977) and Aphis gossypii (Gollifer et al., 1977). Transmitted in a non-persistent manner. Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not transmitted by contact between plants; not transmitted by seed (Hartman et al., 1972; Zettler and Abo El-Nil, 1979); not transmitted by pollen.
Strains: None distinguished, although minor differences in symptoms induced by single isolates from Florida and Fiji in Philodendron selloum have been noted.
Geographical Distribution: Appears to be world-wide, especially in tropical and subtropical regions. Reported from the Caribbean, Egypt, Florida, USA, Europe, India.
