Pseudomonas syringae pv syringae (Pss) - DAS ELISA

Catalog #:  B280
Source Antibody:
Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and detection.
Test Format:    DAS ELISA
Reactivity:  Reaction of the ELISA is moderately strong.  Optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 0.700 – 2.000. depending on the bacterial titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity:  Sensitivity of the ELISA is relatively high.  The bacteria can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:270 - 810.
Specificity:  This test system has no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues tested. Background is very low on the negative control wells.

Information About the Virus
Name: Pseudomonas syringae pv Syringae
Acronym:  Pss
Genus: Pseudomonas
Host plants and Diseases:  Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae cause bacterial canker or blast in stone and pome fruit trees.
Symptoms:  The symptoms include discoloration in wood after pealing the bark on peach (Prunus persica), blossom blast noting death of spur and shoot of infected of pear, and bacterial blight of coffee.
Bacterial Transmission:  The pathogen is spread from infected tissues to healthy plants primarily by windblown rain and by insects. It enters the plant through natural openings and wounds, usually on leaves or shoots.
Bacterial Infection: The disease is more severe during wet and mild springs than during dry and cold ones. Leaf and shoot infections usually expand, killing branches or causing cankers. Invasion of healthy tissue is slow in summer but faster in warm fall weather when the tree has become dormant.
Geographical Distribution: The bacterial disease is distributed worldwide, including many countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, north America and south America.
