Catalog #:  V281
Source Antibody:
Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and detection.
Test Format:    DAS ELISA
Reactivity:  Reaction of the ELISA is strong.  Optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 0.500 – 1.900 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity:  Sensitivity of the ELISA is high.  The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:90 - 1:810.
Specificity:  This test system has no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues tested. Background is low on the negative control wells.

Name: Turnip Crinkle Virus
Acronym:  TCV
Genus: Carmovirus
The virus: The virion of  TCV is isometric with not enveloped, in size of 28 nm in diameter. In infected plant tissues, the virions is rounded in profile with a conspicuous capsomere arrangement.
Main host plants and Symptoms: Symptoms of virus infection in turnip plants include: Brassica campestris ssp. rapa - mottling and leaf distortion, and stunting of plants; Brassica napus var. napobrassica - faint leaf chlorosis or symptomless infection; Brassica sinapis - severe leaf distortion.

Transmission: The virus is transmitted by a insect vector, Striped flea beetle (Phyllotreta, nine species) and leaf beetle (Psylloides, two species) in a non-persistent manner. Virus is also transmitted by mechanical inoculation and by contact between plants. It is not transmitted by seed.

Geographical Distribution: TCV is First reported in turnip Brassica campestris ssp. rapa from Scotland  in 1955. The virus Spreads in the UK, the former Yugoslavia, and possible some other regions in the worlds.
