Source Antibody: Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and
detection.
Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: This test system reacted with all virus isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is relatively strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 1.200 - 1.800 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is very high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:2430.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy orchid plant tissues. Background is relatively low on the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect CymMV in infected orchid plants.

Virus Infection: Cymbidium Mosaic Virus (CymMV) as been found in almost every genus of cultivated orchids, although it never found in wild orchids. The virus is spread throughout commercial orchid collections by contaminated tools and pots. CymMV may be detected in infected plants which do not viral symptoms.
